RhineMain Media Competence Network

Object in View:
Rhein-Main as one of the leading addresses for finance, industry, trade and commerce also belongs to the Germany's most innovative locations for the media. Hessen and Rheinland-Pfalz put great trust in the economic strength of the media and their new technologies and encourage the cooperation between the companies, as they have shown in multiple ways. For this reason the City of Mainz in cooperation with the Economic Advancement Board Frankfurt Rhein Main created a network for the media industry to attain an enhanced marketing of the media on national and international scale and to generate a more clear-cut profile of the region.

Media Portal:

 The internet portal is core of the Media Competence Net RhineMain. It is always up to date with daily current news from the media scene Rhine-Main (oder Rhein-Main) and is used by an ever increasing community of users. The newsletter established itself as a regional medium with currently 2.400 subscribers and offers information on events and media-related news. The extensive events calendar is a guide for and through the branch, monthly listing the most important events relevant for the media, such as general and business meetings of the media industry, and thus actively furthering the exchange of experience and knowledge between the media makers.

ME-kom:

The event ME-kom was created as a business meeting platform and palpable part of the Media Competence Net with the help of several regional partners in order to strengthen the profile of the region's media industry. In its first year 2002 the ME-kom cooperated with the media initiative m2-medienmittwoch and was a great success with 500 participants in the Sky-Center on the Lerchenberg in Mainz. Its aim is to further the exchange of experience and knowledge through lectures given by well-known speakers and to point to new trends within the Rhine-Main (oder Rhein-Main) media industry.

MKN-Award:

The currently more than 1.800 enterprises of the Media Competence Net have the possibility to present to a wide-spread public and potential clients their work also visually in addition to their company information, product portfolio and reference list. To enhance the enterprises` motivation, the Media Competence Net`s news and newsletter monthly present the most innovative presentation. Therefore the MKN fulfills many companies` wish for a representative presentation platform. At the ME-kom 2004 the MKN-Award for the best company representation will be awarded for the first time.
